Pre-Employment Assessment

[SHORTCODE_ELEMENTOR id="2055"]

During the recruitment process before you officially join OXO, we conduct pre-employment assessments to ensure the right fit between you and your role. This process helps us understand your capabilities and helps you understand what success looks like in your position.

What is Pre-Employment Assessment?

Pre-employment assessment is an evaluation process that happens before you start your probation period or official employment. It uses a tool called the Role Scorecard to measure whether candidates have the right skills, mindset, and readiness to succeed in their specific role at OXO.

Important to know: This assessment is not included in your official performance evaluation later on. It's purely a pre-employment tool to set you up for success.

Who Does This Apply To?

Pre-employment assessments are applied to all candidates at OXO, regardless of position level or department. This ensures fairness and consistency in our hiring process.

The 3 Components of Pre-Employment Assessment

  1. Competency Assessment

This evaluates whether you have the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviors needed for your role. We look at both technical competencies (like specific software skills or industry knowledge) and behavioral competencies (like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork).

Example: If you're applying for a customer service role, we might assess your communication skills, patience under pressure, and ability to resolve conflicts.

  1. Scorecard Alignment

Every role at OXO has a Role Scorecard that defines what success looks like in that position. During this component, we check how well your profile aligns with the scorecard's requirements. This includes your experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capabilities matching what the role demands.

Think of it as ensuring you have the right puzzle pieces to complete the picture of your role.

  1. Assignment

You'll complete role-specific tasks or scenarios that simulate real work situations you'll encounter in your job. This practical component shows us—and shows you—how you approach problems and apply your skills in realistic contexts.

Example: A marketing candidate might create a sample campaign strategy, while a finance candidate might analyze a budget scenario.

Why We Do This

The pre-employment assessment serves several important purposes:

  • Ensures suitability: We confirm you're the right fit for the role and OXO's culture
  • Sets clear expectations: You understand exactly what's expected of you from day one
  • Prepares you for success: By aligning with the Role Scorecard early, you can hit the ground running
  • Reduces surprises: Both you and OXO have a clear, mutual understanding of the role requirements

What Happens Next?

Once you complete the pre-employment assessment successfully, you'll be hired and officially join OXO. Move forward to the probation period where formal performance management begins. The insights from this assessment help your manager support you better during your onboarding and early days at OXO.

Remember: This assessment isn't meant to catch you out—it's designed to set both you and OXO up for a successful, productive partnership from the very start.
